having purchased a set of Cossy 4 pots for my S1 recently I can confirm that they do NOT fit the sierra uprights

I have now purchased some AP Racing TVR 4 pot calipers and having brackets made. my discs are 283mm and seem to be the smallest that these calipers fit comfortably.

Hi I have Escort Cosworth (887, 888) callipers and Granada Cosworth 278x24mm disks on my s3.. this conversion (supplied by Hans) fits well and is reported to give a good improvement over the std 240mm set up.. I havn't driven with then yet though... soon now though as the body is now back on.

What's the piston area like compared to the original? The bigger discs alone will increase the leverage and make them more effective, and I found that 285mm was enough to correct the original excessive rear bias and give a slight bias to the front. Bigger pistons might take this too far.I have read somewhere that the front rear bias can be altered by adjusting the angle of the regulator on the drivers bulkhead above the servo as this works by the port being opened and closed as the attitude of the car alters under braking. So you should be able to trim it out if you take care by making small adjustments and road testing until you are happy, or preferably get access to a brake testing roller.

It just happens that I had just taken my old decelleration valve apart to have a gander. It looks quite simple mechanics with a large ball bearing that runs up the chamber and seals against the outlet under hard braking. I guess the steeper the incline the more braking force needed to move the bearing up the chamber. Only guessing though I am not absolutely sure how it works. For interest heres a pic of the inards.Mark

Hi JoeI didn't do the upgrade.The previous owners did it.(Who unfortunately have not been too forth coming in sending any info on the car).You do need the spacer (5mm) but there's about 3mm clearance between wheel and caliper
.Discs are 285mm .Oh forgot to mention I'm running 18x7.5 wheels with an offset of et 43.I going to downsize the wheels ,it also seems the wheel studs are longer.Cheers

Is that too important, thought was mainly to help align wheel so easier to start nuts ? Wheel centralised by studs and nuts ? I run 10mm spacers (with longer studs) front and rear just to push the wheels out a little so they fill the wheel arches better, standard eight spokes with 205/60 v 15'sclarenceboddiger said:

I knew there was a good reason I didn't do the 2WD Cosworth conversion.. wanted to stick with standard parts.
The Escort / Granada items all bolt straight on with a pair of small spacers. Incidentally Hans is also putting me a rear disk conversion together using Granada Cosworth items. 273x20mm disks as found on Griffith 500's. mmmm.. I'm going to get the calpers polycoated by Big Red to match the fronts. Also nice and easy to remember for parts.. Granada cosworth all round.
However if you have big wheels and want to do a really cool (and effective) 4 pots take a look at Fiat 20V Turbo or Seat Brembo's on eBay they go really cheep.
CapriSport can make up adaptors for our cars if you have big enough wheels. They do a 315mm Brembo kit using Fiat 20v Turbo Coupe callipers.
