TVR S RADIATOR EXCHANGE SCHEME

TVR S RADIATOR EXCHANGE SYSTEM
We seem to have had quite a few owners needing radiator restorations recently, and a lot of problems finding specialist who can be trusted to deal with these ‘old school’ radiators.
A number of owners have gone to aluminium radiators with mixed experiences. Alloy rads were introduced into the car industry as a cost saving measures. Almost all cars are now monocoque and more rigid that our flexible chassis cars. Aluminium rads do not like flex, crack more easily, and are then impossible to repair.
Many would prefer to keep using a brass/copper radiator. There is no supply of these new and hasn’t been for a long time. The only choice is to try to ensure all restorable rads are retained and reused. We cannot afford to lose them.
To that end I have been able to instigate a radiator exchange arrangements: 1. you supply me with your old restorable radiator (most can be restored as long as the end ‘tanks’ are not damaged). 2. I send you a fully restored radiator, by return. 3. I get your old one restored ready for the next S owner who needs one.
The radiator will be restored by Motor Radiator Specialists of Preston who have plenty of experience with TVR, and have an excellent reputation.
The cost at current prices is £381 incl vat. Copper is a trade commodity so prices can vary a little. To that I would add £30 for handling and carriage.
It is easy, and remarkably cheap, to send a radiator by courier. For packaging I would recommend going to a cycle shop and getting one of the cartons they receive with new bikes (they are often glad to get rid of them!). Cut it in half and create a double thickness box. Use a little packaging to protect it, especially the pipes, and well taped closed. The Post Office should now take that for delivery by Parcelforce or you can use one of several economy couriers ( I find the PO 48 hour service are now the most reliable again). Do a decent job (please!) and I can reuse to send you the reconditioned one.
feedback please!
