It has happened a couple of times - fourth gear - 4,750 revs - about 95mph and suddenly nothing no acceleration and the revs just drop - then its all O.K. again - if I change up to fifth its fine and away she goes. It seems like a limiter or something but only happens in fourth gear - in 1st 2nd or 3rd it will rev to the red line but it wont go to 5,000 in fourth - anyone any ideas - Im sure the V8S should get past the ton without any problems

My S1 cut out a few times, it was the connector to the ignition/key switch, under the steering wheel column cover. Cut it out, and re soldered the wires and it's been fine since.

However if it only happens in fourth it may be something else!

My S1 had a similar sounding fault. The trouble was the flexible tube (aprox 3" diameter) between the air flow sensor unit (the box at the front near side of the engine compartment where the air enters the engine) and the engine. At high revs this tube was literally collapsing under high suction and stopping air from reaching the engine. This flexible tube is a TVR mod to the normal Ford set up due to the different assembly arrangements of the S1. I swapped the flexible hose for a short length of metal pipe and have had no problem since.

Had exactly the same trouble with my flexi hose aswell(on the S3, I mean), so that sounds like a good way to go...
