That's not that far off it's original selling price, is it?. Couldn't imagine you would ever drive it if you bought it. Put any kind of normal wear, tear and mileage on it and you would lose £5K in a year. Ouch!

Mind you, having said that, most people who walk into a car showroom these days do just that. So if you were in the market for an S and wanted a "new" one then this would be the one to go for.

Edited to add: especially if your names MEL.

The S series is obviously gaining in value against the Griff! Spread the word, start a price boom, and then I can sell mine, get a Griff and still have change for a bag of chips.

Doesnt sound right to me,my S3 was one of the last and it was registered on 18th Dec 92 on a K reg,if its an M reg then its 94/95 and not 1992.Original selling price of mine was £19558,as I have a copy of the cheque in the cars service history.
Could be an S4 but I would be surprised if they were making them as late as 94/95.
Ok private plate so what reg is it really then.

A 1992 would be a J/K plate. Not a P plate and certainly not an M plate as stated. Strange? Rich...

MEL 126P is a dateless reg...

Notice it's got the hump on the bonnet, so the S4 style bonnet with the Chim flanks.

My S3c is a 91J.. and has the S4 bonnet (see profile).

I think it is safe to say it is a 1992 from the bonnet "hump". I think they have misquoted M from the personalised plate.

Incidentally, there were a handful of M reg S's. One is pictured in the bible. Probably sat around awaiting registration for some time though.

Still not sure of this buying an old car with too few miles on the clock though. There is low mileage, and there is unused....

Yes sorry mistakenly read the P as a prefix not a suffix. Rich...
p.s. not exactly dateless as a P suffix was circa 1976

the word "not" seems to be missing from my post!

My point was that mine is an earlier car, and has the later bonnet...

My S3C was a march 91 "J" plate and had the S4 style bonnet, yet I have seen later S's with the previous S1/2/3 style bonnet. I "think" they first appeared on the C's and then found their way onto S3's. Rich...

Bonnet!!!!

With the S1 deluxe version you had 5 hupcaps and kept the 5th one ontop of the plenum for a bonnet and for the standard version you took your flat cap off and put that on the plenum and drove bareheaded.

Wouldnt you really worry about buying a car that has that low a mileage on it ? If you drove it for 10K in the next year i bet half the anciliaries would need replacing.

I wonder who owned it last to use it so little & put that private plate on it

i think that price is fair......if i was in the running for a mint example with low miles and bought it from a dealer then i recon its about right. I personally would go for a mint S series with low miles than a scruffy griff/chim with high miles. Theres always someone out there for a car like this.

How Much?????? They must be joking. Just you try selling it on at that or a similar price. Immaculate or not this must be 5-7K over the odds.
