Bit of a hurry to replace two tyres that aren't going to survive the next fortnight. Can't get SO2s or it would seem RE71s.

Options appear to be;

Dunlop S200
Pirelli P6000
Michelin Pilot Primacy (Got 2 of these at the moment and seem ok)
Firestone S700

Can get a few more through e tyres.co.uk which I may well yet use to make the whole thing far more simple, (i.e. they can do it at home/work).

Any ideas for what to go for or avoid?

Alternatively, anyone know of a good place in Sheffield/Leeds that I can use?

Thanks..

After lots of searching these forums for the best tyre choice for my S2, with the standard wheels, most people seemed to rate the Bridgestone RE720 quite well, especially if you want/need (watch that exhaust) to keep the standard 60 series.

I bought these just prior to a track day and while I haven't had a lot of experience with the car, they are certainly much better than the Yokohamas that were on the car.

So don't forget the RE720 (spiritual successor to the RE71 I believe)

as i said earlier mate - i find the RE720's v good, even compared to my old SO3's. Even Flasher commented that the S was going around roundabouts quite well when he was following me yesterday

of course, if we are going to take your S to le mans we can always stick a couple of my wheels on it Thursday afternoon......

RE720's ...... Superbbbbbb !!

My S handled superbly with them on. Excellent in the wet and progressive in the dry.

Fantastic tyre.

I've had RE720 on all four boots since I bought mine I they've impressed me both on road and track.

Besides, with the amount a bump I take around here on 60 profile, I couldn't risk 55s.

Edited to say: And they're a good bit cheaper than SO2s

Just fitted a pair of Goodyear F1 GSD2's to the front of mine and they work very well wet and dry at the moment, which is more than can be said for the Hankook rubbish that it came with when I got it. I'll get the rears done shortly, then I should get a better idea of their all round performance. At £65 a piece fitted they're not too bad on price either.

I ran Bridgestone Turanza on my S2 without any problems at all. Sorry cannot remember the code (E30??). Bought them from my local Bramalls MG/Rover tyre & exhaust outlet. Maybe ther'e one near you?
