As per the title really. Is this area as unenviable as I think it might be ? A perfect house is available but the area seems to ring alarm bells deep in my sub-consciousness..... Up near Leigh Park.

Not worried about schools etc.

Should I be concerned ?

Thanks

It really depends which road you have in mind. Some parts of Havant are fine, yet still relatively close to areas that you probably wouldn't want to move to. Can you be a bit more precise regarding the location?

Didn't Leigh Park used to be one of the largest Council Estates in Europe.

Petersfield Road about a mile north of the station.

So right in between Leigh Park & West Leigh. My advice: AVOID!

Still is and parts of it are still rife with gangs!

Worked on that estate too many years now, my advice AVOID like the plague, Houses are cheap there for a reason, some areas can't get contents insurance without paying stupid premiums.

Best thing is to pop down and take a look for yourself...just remember windows up, doors locked and keep moving...oh and high beam on to dazzle the local `wildlife` hehe seriously not the best of locations but im sure theres some nice people who live in the area. Im sure the SC PH massive can help you find a more suitable des res...what are your requirements?

Thank you all.

The house in question I came across several weeks ago and was surprised to see it still available. Alarm bells started to ring distantly about the area from my days living in Southampton.

The "up my street" rating was not awful, most points lower than average, although physical violence was higher than average.........

Its a shame,'cos it looks a cracking cottage with garage, workshop, parking etc. But its location is why it is still on the market 6 weeks in after I came across it I suppose.

I don't have to move for any other reason than Surrey is damned expensive and being nearer Goodwood wouldn't be a bad thing. My aging parents also live in the New Forest so being back closer to them again would not be a bad thing.

Thanks again for your responses.

I still think you need to be a bit more precise with the location. Rightmove link? Petersfield Road is the main road up to Rowlands Castle. Fair bit of it is dual carriageway but if you're up the north end it might not be so bad.

Although I wouldn't live there smile

Ah found it. That's very much on the Leigh Park side of the road and its quite a busy bit of road. Shame cos it looks like a nice place.

How many earrings do you have and are you keen on your car having wheels?
