Hi

I need a 'nice' hotel nearish the Southampton Docks on Sunday for under £100 if possible.

I want to head towards Poole on Monday, so don't care if it is on the outskirts, but don't want to drive too far after SS.

'Nice' = good bed, nice sheets, decent shower, fair size room.

Many thanks thumbup

Why not just get a hotel in Poole on Sunday?

If you can stretch to another £20 the De Vere Grand Harbour has rooms for £119, failing that there is plenty around that area such as the Ibis, Novotel etc.

Avoid the Holiday Inn though, a little tired these days!

Spend a night in the New Forest, lots of lovely hotels and a bit of peace and quiet!

How about Etap. its walking distance to the SS.

This is a joke by the way. They are frankly the worst hotel in existence. Stay in the Forest somewhere like the Balmer Lawn.

Try the Master Builders in Bucklers Hard, £120 for B&B. Lovely location smile Immeasurably nicer than the centre of Soton *blech*

The other nice hotels in the NF are waaay over budget, £200-£400!

I think think that might be a touch more than a ton a night.

The Mill at Gordleton has rooms above the restaurant. Should be about £100

De Vere is a good shout. Not quite up to London 5* ratings, but good enough for us down 'ere.

They were very good to us on my Wedding night as well - free room upgrade (super cheap price in the first place. I think I only paid something like £80) to a balcony overlooking the venue where we got married, and a card personally signed by the General Manager and Duty Managers, and a free bottle of Champagne. We were far too pissed by then for it, but we sat on the balcony and drank it anyway... biggrin

This. Really nice place. Right next to my work too if you fancy popping in and looking at some nice boats!

You might want to avoid Lyndhurst at this time of year though. It's a nightmare with holiday traffic. Head through Beaulieu towards Southampton might be better.
