Hi folks,

The alloys on my car are dented, chipped and the paint is flaking off from a few years of bumping up kerbs etc. (Not my doing I might add!) I've decided now is the time to sort this, but I'd rather not be without my car for more than a few days and I don't have a second vehicle.

Is there a company you lot have used, or had recommended in the Park Gate area, or which will travel to the Park Gate area who can do a decent job? What generally happens with the mobile companies - do they leave your car on axle stands for a few days, or do they have all the equipment in the van?

Wheels are these if it makes a difference.

Thanks for any help!

Painted.

Got a quote of about £450 for the 4 wheels - are they usually this expensive?

Yes, but you will not get a better job done. Same day service if you need it too. With cheaper alloy wheel repairers you only get a wet paint job which deteriorates very quickly. The Wheel Specialist powder coat and bake the wheels and the finish should last many years. Just had mine done and its amazing what they can do. They are a PHers favourite.

Just got mine done at the wheel specialist £350, I am very happy with the outcome they looked very tatty and one was quite badly kerbed not even sure which one it was now. Actually got a quote, was waiting to get paid and in the meantime got an email offering a discount as they had some limited last minute availability £40 off. Just need to paint the wheel nuts now.

I considered painting the nuts on mine, instead i decided to get some wheel nut covers from Demon Tweeks. Very smart and a cheap fix. They do a few different colours too.

Have you tried removing the covers? Mine are stuck pretty well; the supplied removal tool is useless.

Mine are pretty easy. I did have to trim the covers down by about 30% as they were too long but they come off easy enough.

Good idea but I decided to paint them in the end as I didn't think they would fit the locking wheel nuts, they look fantastic now IMO.

Anyone know the best place to get my tracking/wheel alignment done now the handling doesn't seem quite the same on the new tyres

I always used Micheldever in the past, but they have a subsidiary now in Eastleigh that once did some laser alignment on a Tuscan for me. Damned if I can remember the name but they were down by the Fire HQ.
