New car time...decisions

Evening all,
I've just agreed to sell my beloved Elise (had it for almost 2 years now).

I've driven a few NA Evora's but what say the South Coast region of PH.
For the money and running costs the Evora is firmly at the top of my list at the moment.

The Evora is very good although slightly underpowered unless you go for the S which is out of budget currently ( this is what stopped me buying one). There is a lot of car available at that budget including 911 Turbo, XKR convertible, Nissan GTR, Ferrari 360 or Aston Martin Vantage (DB9 not vastly more but more of a GT) which is what I have chosen. Don't forget the Sagaris is also there or thereabouts as well.

I'm pretty sure all of those would cost far too much to run and maintain though! They will certainly be higher if you plan to track the car as they are all from a much higher price bracket. The other thing they have in their favour compared to the Evora is that they have already taken the big depreciation hit whereas that is still to come which could dwarf running costs tbh.
If running costs are a big concern and it is just weekend/ track then I would look at a 2-11, Caterham or Supercharged Atom

Weekend car with possible occasional track use.
I fear a Porsche will cost too much to run/maintain.
Let's say £35k max.
At £35k, pretty much anything you buy, probably barring another Elise, runs the risk of being expensive to run/maintain. Porsche's may not be cheap to run, but they are not Ferrari expensive. I fear a Porsche will cost too much to run/maintain.
Let's say £35k max.

M5 may lose a bit over the coming years, but it's not going to batter the bank. Atom (at a guess) surely can't lose much value.

I was in a very similar situation this time last year, I had driven a Maserati, NSX, 35 GTR, SL55 AMG and a Porshe 911 Turbo and had decided on the 911 Turbo. Unfortunately the dealership North of Basingstoke was home to a number of for want of a better word timewasters although thats not what I called them at the time and the deal fell through so I went out and bought a 2001 Esprit V8 with a wodge of spare cash to possibly buy a cheap Elise to use as a track-day car. Thats where my thoughts still are in so far as to track any one of the above cars will cost more money than the enjoyment factor in my opinion.
I'm not a lover of new cars but I think the Evora secondhand will be a good buy in a few years time but still too dear in my and many other Lotus owners opinion I know who all say they are waiting for the price on them to drop. I'm guessing you probably know Bibs from the lotus forum who is running an Evora at the moment. I think the budget of £35K gives you a good scope of available secondhand cars at the moment, if I were you I'd do what I did and that is forget all preconceptions about cars and just go and drive them and see which one ticks all the boxes.
