As i had my alloys powder coated last September i am a bit loathed to let any old scroat change the tyres. Is there anyone in the Ringwood / B'mth / Poole area you'd trust not to scratch your rims when changing rubber? Am i best off just going down to The Wheel Specialist where i had them painted to get them to do it?

I avoid the place opposite Makro on Cabot Lane.

They scratched up 2 of my alloys in late 2009 when replacing the front tyres (I never did anything about it as I went overseas for work the following week)
and also insisted I needed new rears.

A few Months later I went to National Tyres in Poole and they told me the rears didn't need replacing at all.
I never did change them, and got rid of that car a year ago.

Thanks guys. The tyres aren't needing done for a couple of months but the info you're providing is invaluable. TWS will be my first choice unless Im convinced otherwise. The only thing that goes against TWS is that its not exactly local.

Event tyres mobile fitting. I have painted wheels on my Porsche and they were great, very careful and really took their time to make sure there was no damage

Just had my wheels done at TWS and will need tyres in a couple of months so in the same position as you Eddie. Think I may just go back there to get them done!

Still not that local but I guess a little closer to you Eddie than TWS is Haydon Tyres in Cadnam. Just down the road from where I used to work, had quite a few recommendations from some colleagues so took the Impreza there after TWS had sorted out the rims and was very happy. Friendly bunch and actually beat the best price I could find elsewhere for rubber.

Event Tyres scored two of my alloys down to the metal, the only damage on any of my wheels in 6 years and 100k miles came from their monkey. "wasn't me, mate, like that when I started" apparently, too... rolleyes

Last September and you only now need new tyres?! I'm impressed! I got through 3 or 4 sets of rears a year in the M5! I always used Tyreland, they always match the prices provided by Micheldever and never had any issues with fitting at all. They even used to clear the back car park so i could "finish" off the tyres with some donughts before the new ones went on smile

Actually, to tell the truth this will be my first tyre change in 18 months of M5 ownership. Granted ive only done 7k miles in that time but that aint bad.

I wouldn't let tyreland fit a wheelbarrow tyre after what they did to my split rims and the half arsed attempt to fix it. Head office couldn't care less, there excuse was its to small 3 other places I've used since have had no issues. I used stokes after them explained the issue I was allowed to inspect the wheels after fitting and before any money changed hands, I got the exact same when I got split rims on the BMW I got the exact same level of service without even asking to.
