Country pub lunch near Portsmouth?
Discussion
So a long time ago I was supposed to arrange a nice Sunday lunch for two for tomorrow. And I forgot.
Criteria are it being a pub, somewhere near Portsmouth, west and/or north ideally, and I would hope out in leafy countryside or at least somewhere away from the grim city. I thought towards Wickham or one of the Meons perhaps.
Please bail me out with your recommendations!

Seven Stars @ Stroud near Petersfield on A272, no booking, await a table, do a fantastic roast with a good varied menu. Go for a blast along the 272 afterwards.
One of my favourite pubs this. Go there up/down a34 and a272 for a pleasant drive. Trashbat, you of AO parish?

Tried The Hurdles at Droxford but no tables - looked classy though. Ended up at The Shoe Inn, Exton - and enjoyed an excellent roast beef with a Yorkshire pudding the size of a workable hat. Recommended.

I did wonder if you'd get a table at The Hurdles. The Shoe would have been my second choice. Glad it was good.Tried The Hurdles at Droxford but no tables - looked classy though. We've been to the shoe in the summer, and sat by the stream across from the pub.Tried The Hurdles at Droxford but no tables - looked classy though. Ended up at The Shoe Inn, Exton - and enjoyed an excellent roast beef with a Yorkshire pudding the size of a workable hat. Recommended.
