Parking in Brighton?
Discussion
Need to get myself from London to central Brighton and back again for a Friday night in a couple of weeks time. Train would be easier, but I don't fancy the late night vomit comet on the way home, so I am thinking of driving down. Any recommendations on anywhere decent to leave the car close to the Brighton Centre?

I wouldn't try. The A23 south of where the A27 crosses it is an absolute nightmare, and that's before you get into sky high NCP parking charges and the on-street 'enforcers'.
I would drive to Haywards Heath or similar where there are lots of trains to and from Brighton. Sounds silly ut the Council, of whatever persuasion - currently 'Green', is not car friendly.

Mate I went to Brighton the other day and parked in a really decent car park. It is just off the seafront on the road where Jamie Olivers restaurant is. You will have to google it!!! It had secure parking with roller doors and you could only get into the carpark to get your car by swiping your ticket. Seemed to be a reasonable price. Not sure whether your fussed about security but this one was very good.
Posted this on a thread back in Dec (modified it slightly):
Parking in Brighton... could cover many pages with what to do and what not to do - we used to live on the Brighton/Hove boarder just up from the seafront; having a resident's permit (after the 1yr wait) only gives a little advantage to be honest... I was still ticketed even with one firmly stuck in the window - stories of angry (and somewhat unhinged) residents chasing parking wardens with axes... well, yes, I can quite see why that may cross your mind! Numerous random damage events as well... the GTV seemed to just attract it, strangely the 220K mile Volvo 850 didn't... parking by braille seemed to be a local sport however!
Anyway - there is free parking up behind the AMEX building (Google it), can be a little tight for space, never much good for Swedish estate cars I found... so, the most reasonable one we've found for pay/park action is London Road car park, more secure than most, and pretty cheap, fairly central too: http://www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/index.cfm?request=...
Closer to the beach, and a little more expensive (still not bad) is Regency Square car park, the underground one: http://www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/index.cfm?request=...
Many of the Resident Only on street spaces are actually free after 8pm, and usually full at that point in my experience (so not really that useful!).
The above two car parks should allow you to avoid the frankly horrific train experience, and the A23 can be a little slow, but is rarely that bad.
ETA: To avoid the A23 within Brighton, head west one stop on the A27, turn off to Hove and drive in on Dyke Road... goes directly to Seven Dials roundabout, easy to get down to the seafront from there, and less busy in general.

That's the only way I'll drive in. Much easier than heading straight over rabbit roundabout. Dogwatch said:

Brighton council loathe cars with a vengeance.
As a result, I've substantially reduced the number of times I visit Brighton.
In my view, the nicer people go to Lewes anyway.
The last London bound train out of Brighton is worth
avoiding as well - full of drunken teenagers larking about.
Depends how much of a walker you are. Car parks suggested are cheaper for a reason (10-15 minute walk, how are you in high heels?
). Nearest 3 NCPs (not saying they would be the most secure but I've never had a problem) are Chartwell Court, Bartholemew Square and Churchill Square, the latter being by far the biggest. Church Street car park has a late night parking deal on ATM (something like £4.50 between 17.30 and 00.00) and is about a 10 minute walk.
