I hit a huge pothole in February in my 528. The car wobbles and vibrates at 65 mph plus now. It also wanders to the left and I'm forever correcting the wheel. Apparently the front wheels are tracking straight, one of the back wheels may be out, but being a BMW a conventional tracking machine can't tell. My indie tells me there is no damage to any suspension components. So far Cribbs Tyres in Holton Heath can't help (nice guys though) I'm not keen on taking it to the local BMW as they have repeatedly proven they are not familiar with the E39 range. Any ideas on where I can take it on a Saturday or Sunday? I really want it fixed, it feels crap to drive plus I'm worried about uneven tyre wear.. any ideas? Thanks. I've been reccomended to Christchurch Tyres. Anyone know if they have the correct equipment to sort out BMW's? Thanks.

I've not used them yet but know many people who have used Christchurch tyres with good experiences including BMW owners

I've used them. They're very good. Don't charge if the tracking is straight too, so I usually take new cars down there for them to check. They have a big high end laser tracker that's supposed to be the best.

Has anyone checked to see if the wheel is buckled? My car used to do exactly that when I hit about 75mph.

I thought that, but if it was buckled surely at any speed it would shake?

Did you try rotating front to rear wheels?
There use to be a great guy down your way that traded under the name Latine Auto's but I don't know if they still exist or if the original owner still operates the garage.

Yeah, does sound like it. Had a similar issue with my Audi. Vibrated at 70mph plus.

I used Christchurch tyres a few weeks back for the tracking on the wife's car. Really friendly and helpful, will be going back soon to get tyres from them.

Nope, mine was totally fine until it hit 75. Above 100 it was ok again.

Well I took it to Christchurch Tyres yesterday and it drives perfectly now, no buckled wheels but it was quite badly out of alignment. All for a very reasonable £60. Very pleased smile
