Any recommendations?
Not too keen on steam cleaning it.

Yeah.
What I'm after is a thorough clean without using steam on it.

I looked into the possibility of a steam clean for the engine as the local Pole car wash outfit offers it for £10; I was tempted. Looking on-line though, the general advice seems to be steer clear of steam cleaning, judging from other poor bleeders experiences, that is. So, I did my own engine clean-up with elbow grease and whatever cleaning products I had to hand, the results were adequate, I think for a super looking outcome it probably takes lots and lots of work.

Anyway, here's my rather boring 'after-the-clean-up' pic.

Nice.
I was thinking it would take a whole morning or an afternoon, so I'm being realistic.

I had the S2 steam cleaned several years back and it ran like a bag of nails, slowly sorted out all te issues with oxidised contacts and damaged coil packs etc... Nearly there....
