Hi,

I'm off to the Spa Grand Prix on Thursday and need to get to Dover for 12. Not having done the trip for ages, what's the best route to take? And how long should it take to get there? I don't want to miss the ferry or sit in London traffic!

Thanks,

Dan

Mark.

Not done Dover for an age so can't remember timings, but A3/M25/M20 is probably the best bit (Or M3), should take about 3.25 hours? Although if you are going in rush hour maybe a bit longer.

Once came back the coast route - never, ever again.

Don't go the coast way head up to the M25 then go down the M20.

True the A259 (Folkstone - Honiton officially) is only for the very leisured classes but you could cut out some of the M25 by using the A27/M27 then up the A3 through the Hindhead tunnel and join the M25 well east of the M3/M4 junctions. Probably slow in and around Guildford and then busy up to the M25 with wall-to-wall Rangies, but generally decent roads otherwise.
