Wheel welding near Portsmouth

Had my free health check down at Snows today and the nice man told me that one of my alloys has a small crack. He gave me the price for a new wheel but said that lots of places can weld it instead and do a very good job but that obviously they couldn't recommend it. It's apparently only very small and not losing air pressure.

Any recommendations on somewhere to get this looked at and ideas of costs and time? I can't really be without the car so days wouldn't be an option.

How do they know its cracked if theres no pressure loss or havent taken tyres off? Is the crack on an arm or spoke?

My 55 M Sport had major problems with the wheels going out of balance, I always suspected that the wheels weren't strong enought to stay round! I was told by one major fleet manager, where the cars are used particularly hard, that they had to replace all there wheels of this type. Snows always denied there was an inherent problem with them to me, and yet it was them who replaced all the wheels on the fleet free of charge. My current M Sport has been fine, my driving style, I would say, is still the same. I wonder if they check wheels from around 2005 carefully?

Could be, mine is a 55 plate M Sport.

They certainly didn't seem like they'd replace it for free

Mine was owned by a Lease company, and Snows wouldn't do it for them! As a private owner, I would suspect you are right especially as the car is that bit older now. The fleet company that they did it for is quite important to them for various reasons!
