I've never been, with The Motorist getting increasingly hectic and a bit dull to drive to I was hoping for a change of scenery now and again.

That is a shame, and I only discovered it late last summer thanks to giveitfish after an early morning run.
I'd been keeping an eye out for it reopening too as runs up onto the moors this year have been lacking a good and convenient breakfast spot, and most places don't open until 09.00.
Food was always good, service friendly and with interesting machines both inside and outside in the ample carpark to look at.
Hopefully someone finds a way to make it work again, even a decent mobile coffee and catering van in that location would be great!

Very sad, but I did always feel like it just wasn't busy enough so I'm not surprised. It was a nice drive from home to get there and NY made a nice change from the circus that the Motorist can be, a more relaxed, chilled out and much smaller venue but it was just empty at times it shouldn't have been! And boy, when it was a bit busier, I did at times have to wait a fair while for food and drink which wasn't ideal! I will miss it.
Bolleaux!! We moved to Thirsk 4 years ago and this has been on my list of things to do/places to go. It never happened.
Anyway - if peeps are looking for somewhere different to go as a stop-off point, we were at the Glider Restaurant at Yorkshire Gliding Club near the top of Sutton Bank t'other day. Note that it's completely unsuitable for a car meet as it's tiny, but as somewhere to have a coffee/sandwich/scone and watch gliders being towed up into the sky and small planes doing circuits and bumps, it's lovely.
The view from the cafe (upstairs) across the plain of York is spectacular and we spent a couple of hours just watching the comings and goings from the tables outside.

We had a drive over to the Cedarbarn Farm Shop a few weeks ago which was a pleasant spot and a great breakfast and coffee spot but already massively busy with regular customers so unlikely to suit any kind of meet.
Aye. We've been twice this year and both times (midweek, out of school holidays) it's been so busy it was difficult to park and quite a long wait for food.If anyone wants a...'different'...experience, Thirsk Garden Centre (close to the Auction Mart) has a good restaurant which serves food with robots. Genuinely! Order at the till, collect an electronic tracker and a robot brings your order with a funny voice announcement and a smiley face. Sammiches are fekking enormous, too.
