Edinburgh Council Garages

Can anyone give me some advice on the best way or if it's even possible to rent a council garage in the Edinburgh or surrounding area.

My car currently stays up North and is the reason I have not had it out this year, I'm too paranoid about leaving it in the driveway so looking for a garage to rent.

Any advice in regards to garage rental would also be useful - it would be only for storage and private, non-commercial use.

I rent a garage from East Lothian council in Musselburgh. It's pretty cheap, c. £35 a month, but I'm not sure if you'll need to be a council tax payer to be able to rent one?

I will be staying in Stockbridge - moving in this weekend and will be paying council tax.

Sought after area so garages round here are about £150pm which I can’t justify, probably £50 max hence the council garage.

As mentioned open to it being outside Edinburgh, perhaps Musselburgh is a little too far though.

I had a good look on the Edinburgh Council website but could not find any reference to renting garages or a contact number I could use - does anyone body have a contact number? - Probably a good place to start!

Your up against a brick wall. It took me months to find a garage to rent in Edinburgh and I'm afraid you'll have to pay
from £100 month upwards. There are always some on Gumtree, but I wasn't prepared to leave a very expensive classic in some
of the areas they were in. Eventually I got lucky and found one about 500 yards from our place in Edinburgh.
I tried advertising and didn't get a single reply Good luck!

Perhaps too far but there are several garages for rent in Dunfermline / Rosyth just now. They are merely lock ups in residential areas, no water or power so perhaps not best suited for posh car storage. IIRC, about £37 a month all inc.

I rented a garage of the council in south queensferry for about 35 a month and a straight drive out of Stockbridge. I did it direct of the council just got the number of the web site got sent the paper work and waited a couple of months till one came free.

Anybody any idea on industiral units to perhaps rent through the council? or farming land with perhaps a unit/shed not being used?

I know where there may be a single garage sized space in a large shared area. Its a bit further into East Lothian and its not mine, but the two guys that run the lockup / workshop are cool. PM me if you're interested and I can pass on their details.

I have been having a look at commercial plots/units which are up for lease, although these are directed towards a business I assume they can be rented even if being used for private use?

If I can find a garage/lock up I can have my car out
