Raith Interchange Upgrades
Discussion
Improvements to the Raith interchange have now been detailed:

Looks like a major project, in particular an underpass for the A725. Will no doubt make an improvement when completed, but I'll probably avoid the Raith interchange for 2-3 years whilst the work is completed!

The M8 upgrade will be interesting.
There is a railway bridge between the Shawhead and carnbroe slip roads.
There is currently no hard shoulder so it will take some major rebuilding to get that widened.
That should take a good few months. Joy.
Looks like the section between Showcase/Bargeddie and Eurocentral will be a separate carriageway running parallel. But either way, it's not going to be easy. There is a railway bridge between the Shawhead and carnbroe slip roads.

Just hope the traffic congestion isn't what it was like there tonight about 6pm. Tailed southbound from just after the M8 junction on the M73 all the way to the Hamilton/Motherwell slip road. No signs of any accidents, just sheer volume of traffic.
Can't imagine what it will be like with roadworks.

Has this started already? I was along there on Saturday and pretty much all the farm tracks to the south of the D/C are marked as Works Access plus there's been digging going on at Shawhead for months.Click on map to enlarge

Having a wee read of the Transport Scotland website, had to click on the dualing of the A9. Laugh when I saw this
"Dualling the A9 between Perth and Inverness will provide the following benefits and opportunities:
improved links to pedestrian, cycling and public transport facilities"
Screw cycling on the a9 even if it was dual carriageway.
