Glasgow Inns/B&Bs

Me and SWMBO are staying over in Glasgow later this month (14th/15th), however we don't know any good places to stay at. We could just stay at one of the Premier Inns, but was wondering if there are recommended Inns/B&Bs?

When I go to Glasgow I usually book the travel lodge at braehead. Big shopping centre, ikea and Xscape right on your doorstep.

Thanks for the offer but I think that might be a bit far out of town, I think Glasgow city ought to keep us amused for a couple of days

There are a few places in an around the Kelvingrove. Not sure how good they are but, you are within walking distance of lots of great stuff.

We've booked a room in the Riverside Holiday Inn, right in the middle of Glasgow and also next to the subway/underground.

Price will be around £180 once parking is included. Will probably go ahead unless anyone thinks it's a bad idea? (we can cancel before the Saturday at no cost I believe).

CitizenM is good for the price.

Stayed for a night when it first opened. Not sure what it's like for parking though.

For that price you could stay somewhere like this

Ideal location for touristy stuff and the in house Indian restaurant is absolutely brilliant.

I'll certainly check it out, not near the subway system though, that said not sure if this is bad thing since we haven't been to Glasgow for a long time...

...which leads to my other question - what to do/see/eat in Glasgow? There's a handful of things we'd like to do on Saturday afternoon (mostly around the city centre), but we'll have Saturday evening and all day Sunday free.

ETA what's parking like around the Lorne? Parking isn't included but does suggest on street parking is free on weekends?

Not 100% sure but you should be able to find off street parking on side streets around there after 6pm on Friday for the while weekend.

Parking can be found at that end usually fairly easily.
It is about a 20 min walk to city centre and there is a bus stop outside.
Botanics is 15 min walk, as is Byres Rd & Kelvin Hall Subway.

What to do? Depends on your interests.
I like the Kelvingrove museum, Riverside (Transport) museum, Lighthouse (town centre), Byres Rd and eating/drinking in good places.
Botanics and Kelvingrove Pk are good if weather nice.

Botanical Gardens & Parks are a good shout - although looking at the forecasts we might have to do those on Saturday at it might chuck it down on Sunday

Lorne is coming out at well over £200 for two nights, probably should have booked earlier but oh well.
