Aviemore - eilean donan castle

Up in Aviemore this week and want to go the above castle. What is the best route for this? I have got three different routes: Up to inverness then back down the A82 or head out past dingwall then back down or head down to fort William from avimore then back up? Will nip past apple cross on the way back as well

Head back down the a9 onto the a86. Join the a82 north then along the a87. Then if you're going to head over to Applecross you could do a full loop, follow the coastal road north from Applecross up to Torridon take the a896 and join the a832 and follow that to the a835 south back to Inverness. Some of the best roads in the country.

Thanks, did the route you suggested but weather turned crap at Applecross, did get a nice lobster from Applecross inn though
