Recently fitted Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance to the family barge, they have been OK until the recent cold snap. Traction is scarily bad and there is no way I'm going to drive through the winter with them.

I've spotted a good deal online for some winter/all season tyres and want to get them fitted locally (Glasgow South), I've called a couple of places and they're not exactly enthusiastic about fitting only. Any suggestions and what would a fair price be??

Around Glasgow I've paid £12.50 - £15 a tyre.

Where are you buying them from? A lot of online sellers have linked garages that will happily do fitting only.

Can pm you if you want to know where I last used on southside?

Guy at Rutherglen tyres (59 CATHCART ROAD RUTHERGLEN, next to busby glass) did a puncture for me a few weeks back for £8 and said he'd happily fit and balance anything bought online for £12. Not the tidiest looking place but guy was friendly, let me look over his shoulder didn't mark my wheel.

Used powdertec at Houston St, in Glasgow the last two times I have replaced tyres, think it was a tenner a tyre.

Thanks for the responses. I'm ordering from OPONEO online, they don't have any affiliations with fitters in the UK. Price for Nexen All Season tyres was £68 delivered for 225 17's, by the time I factor in fitting at £10 or so the price is excellent.

This chap is very friendly and helpful IME http://www.rdtyres.co.uk/ , I've used him for puncture repairs and family have used him for new tyres for years, not the most glamorous location but cheap, near the M8, and he's always been very careful - using trolley jacks instead of lifts and doing up and torqueing (sp?!) nuts by hand.

Another recommendation for Gerrard at RD Tyres. Very good prices (cheaper than online last time I bought some) and careful with wheels etc.

I'd tell someone to fk off at £15/corner! Usually get mine rotated when I fit an axle pair & it's no more than £25 for all four.

Fair enough. I think the £15 was without shopping around, and through the online retailer. Changing the tyres over again was cheaper.

A third here for gerry and his da at RD tyres. Ive used him for several years now and hes put tyres on wheels that nobody else would touch. I used to refurbish high end split rims mainly for the vw crowd and hes never marked any. As above its a v.small unit but they use the latest equipment and they are ultra careful and I easily travel the 20 odd mile just to use them for peace of mind.
