Removing sticky number plate fixings..

Looking for some recommendations for removing the sticky residue left by sticky pads used for fixing number plates.

I have used various things in the past - 'sticky stuff remover', turps (and no it doesn't strip the paint) and auto glym polish have been the most effective. Or use a hairdryer and pick it off slowly.

Did this fairly recently. Used the hairdryer to warm them up and picked at them with an old credit card. Once I'd got most of it off, used an old microfiber cloth and some tar spot remover (autosmart tardis is good). That should shift all the residue and leave you with a nice clean surface for the new pads to stick to.

Try Evo Stik 191 Adhesive Cleaner as this is right up there with WD40 and Gaffer Tape and takes the glue mess off easily. Its on Amazon for about £3.50.

If you're patient then a soft eraser is a dry chemical free way of doing it.
