Not a great day at Knockhill. Rain, wind and red flags. Didn't get much shooting done as I only stayed for an hour, so here's what I managed to get!

Anybody else there today? If so, anybody manage to catch what happened to the gent in the Impreza below? Red and yellow flags, walked around the corner and he's in the middle of Clarks facing the wrong way with his front end smashed in.

Nice work as always Jack, you know what's coming here.... any shots of me? biggrin

Not the greatest day today, didn't mind the weather (other than I couldn't catch a cold, let alone a slide today) but another hour off the track with an oil spill around the entire track, and constant red flags for a while after every few laps got old pretty quickly.

Seemed to mostly be race cars that ended up in the gravel, between that and them hanging 3 bawhairs off your back bumper from McIntyres through to the chicane where you can't let them past it was pretty frustrating.

Apologies to the RB320, got myself into a bit of a tankslapper at Clark right in front of you...

Edit: Not sure who hit the Scooby, I usually don't go out right at the start to let the rush die down so I had only been out for about 3 laps when it was red flagged. Really strange one, looked like he'd spun under braking and been clipped by the following car as it was parked at 90 degrees before the apex.

Cheers bud, I've got a couple but there nothing to special I'm afraid, I'll put them through lightroom quickly and post them.

Could not agree more about the red flags growing old fast, I wasn't even on the track and it was annoying me! I can deal with the wind and rain, but put oil in the mix and your asking for trouble. frown Was a shame about that guys Impreza, looked like a nice piece of kit!

Cheers mate, any at all and I will be happy!

Just watched a bit of my in-car footage back - he was parked slightly after the apex, my bad. Either way, never good.

Hmm, never good. He drove past me in the paddock, so it's still running just not sure what/who took him out in the first place!

He lost it on the corner, and the following car (can't remember what it was) was too close to avoid him, and he too lost control trying to avoid him. Happened right in front of me (as I'd just let the pair of them past on the straight prior). Didn't get it on video as I hadn't set it up on the first stint. frown

Never understood the mentality of these drivers that drive in such close proximity on a trackday. Incidents like that are inevitable.

Completely agree. Was watching some of the faster guys coming right up behind some of the slower guys on the entrance to the chicane and sitting on their back bumper.

I know people want to get good times and such, but doing that puts pressure on drivers and will make the inevitable happen. rantinglaugh

Indeed.

For me at least, trackdays aren't about racing/getting the best time. (If you want to race, go race). Trackdays are about driving fast/on the limit, which is far more pleasurable if you got a bit of space fore/aft.

Cool smile

Power Images have their pics up, caught the Puma/Scooby interface - http://www.power-images.co.uk/gallerys/2014/car%20...

Found this vid too, not watched it all the way through yet but I'm sure that's you getting a slide on about 4 mins in - http://youtu.be/IR5pVE1gk5E

Edit: Me having a moment at 10:40-ish, doesn't look much but I thought I was going to be mowing the grass with that effort...

Good job you caught it, could of been nasty!

I'm glad Power Images got shots of the incident on the track, rarely do we get to see it frame by frame!

Start of the year, people are a bit rusty and probably too keen to impress, add some damp track and it'll be a disaster for someone.

I wonder how he managed to go into a slide and stop in that position

(using Power Images to tell the story)

On the right hander, Impreza oversteers past the point of no return. Puma very close behind (IPS 5237)

Puma slams on brakes which throws car into lift off oversteer. NSR of Puma hits OSF of scooby (IPS 5239)

Impact spins Puma back through 180 Deg (IPS 5241, IPS 5243, IPS 5244)

Thanks smile It's just a chav-spec backbox so it's a bit raspy, but it does the trick.

How's the 328 going? I've got a soft spot for E36s, loved my old M3.
