Supercar friendly hotels - Isle of Skye
Discussion
Hi all
I wonder if anyone on here can make any hotel recommendations... We are heading up for a few days in Spring and would like some advice from those in the know, about hotels in and around the Isle of Skye... Ideally supercar friendly and secure car parking would be essential, other than that I am open to suggestions..
Perhaps when we are up if any locals want to join us for a drive, a bit like we did back in 2011, then happy to discuss this nearer the time!
Thanks in advance,
Adam

I don't think you need to worry about secure car parking. It's Skye not Surrey!.

)You'll really enjoy it though if the sun shines!
I've stayed at the following on Skye:
http://glenviewskye.co.uk/
http://www.threechimneys.co.uk/
Both were outstanding.

As mentioned previously you wont need to worry about getting robbed up there. We did a trip last year and stayed at Duisdale House, which is ideal for parking other than the fact it is laid in chuckies. It is a nice hotel but I will probably head to Portree this to find accommodation. You will have a blast the roads over there are immense. I would also highly recommend going over to applecross while you are...best seafood I wonder if anyone on here can make any hotel recommendations... Kinloch Lodge, at Sleat?
There was plenty of parking when we visited last year and it's worth a visit for the Michelin Star restaurant alone!
That restaurant is absolutely superb, and the hotel is in an beautiful location. Certainly my favourite on Skye. I think there's a bridge and a cattle grid on the access road- I don't remember either as being narrow or problematic. The google car has been down it, so you can make your own mind up.There was plenty of parking when we visited last year and it's worth a visit for the Michelin Star restaurant alone!

Well worth a trip over the Quiraing towards the north of the island, the scenery is amazing

Security, can sheep hot wire cars yet? My dad still takes the piss when we visit and lock the car...
Even if you are heading from the North of England its still a stretch in one go and Skye is a sizeable island so consider a stop off hotel like Inverlochy Castle near Fort William or The Airds Hotel at Port Appin.
I didn't like Lady Clare MacDonalds place Kinloch Lodge much as the staff were a pain and you stay in a house near the main building which they neglect to mention. They have a trust bar in that house and funny how when you go to use it someone seems to arrive in the room? Almost like they don't trust you! Oh and the turn down service let all the midgies in so we got bitten to sleep!
As stated above the 3 chimneys is 1st class but they demand a multiple night stay if you use the accommodation at the weekend. I stay at Silverdale guest house 5 mins walk away and I spend the money I save on posh booze.
The Albannach at Lochinver is worth a try and the roads are nice a quiet......

Thanks for the reply. I have settled on a couple of hotels and will keep you all updated. Due to the size of our group 15+ rooms were required, so I've been limited to the larger hotels outside of Skye, but we will still have a day to play over there!I didn't like Lady Clare MacDonalds place Kinloch Lodge much as the staff were a pain and you stay in a house near the main building which they neglect to mention. A funny bunch at Kinloch, again decided to give that one a miss, but may try it when we have a smaller group...
If any locals with Supercars fancy joining for a drive on the Sunday we will have quite a few cars up there for the weekend.
Thanks again for all the advice!

I did not realize you had that many. I stayed at Marmalade (bigger but not so flash) in Portree and it was nice enough and the food was very good for the cost. http://www.marmaladehotels.com/A funny bunch at Kinloch, again decided to give that one a miss, but may try it when we have a smaller group...
