Looking for favour

Son has a three piece support for his camera gear and has somehow damaged the threads on one of the joins

Anyone got a tap & die set who could re do threads?

I have a set of metric standard dies and taps and a set of metric fine taps only if any help,in Ayrshire not to far away

If its not that big you can get a good set for not a huge amount at toolstation or screwfix, if it happens again always handy to have in the house

There's also Machine Mart. But for tools for the odd job, there's always Aldi . I spotted a set in ours for not a lot recently. Few years ago I'd have had a set for the day when I found a damaged thread. Not the sort of thing for everyday use. But again,I got a digital micrometer for a few pounds a year or so ago .

If threads are to gone and failing weaking the stand get a timesert or helicoil save
Manking the sides weak prone to crack

Just a thought and from experience from other mishaps

Do you have any idea of the size/pitch of the thread, I would suspect that it will be a very fine thread. I've got a good selection of taps and dies which you are more than welcome to borrow, but could save time to know at least the size of the thread. HTH
