So true. Its those that trudge along at 45 completely oblivious to their surroundings and the frustration they cause that results in accidents. Oh and foreign drivers in the tourist season.
It's a funny old road, the A9. It's wide and fast which encourages speeding but has deceptive corners and dips, catching out the unwary, increasing accidents, giving the road a disgraceful fatality record. A list of dead people that has everyone in agreement that something needs to be done.
Then, when they try to do something to keep people to a reasonable pace, it's met with anger.

No doubt someone will be along soon to tell me speed doesn't kill or some other reason why the cameras are such a bad idea, so I'll preemptively accept that I'm wrong, you're right.

I believe all the non SPECS sections will be the duals. You are right though and I have to disagree with the earlier above post - it's not speed that usually results in accidents on the A9 (Of course there are exceptions), it is usually caresses driving, frustration, drivers on the wrong side of the road, bikers, crossings etc. The tiredness/frustration over being stuck at 60mph for mile upon mile on empty roads in the middle of the night will be brutal.Arguably will lead to folk trying to make up time between SPECS sections possibly making problems worse

But look out for cash convertor vans on straights north of Fort William, especially where no mention is made on the website. Year or so ago I was up north and heading to Fort William .On the nice new straight between Loch Oich and Loch Lochy, I had intentions of pass a Truck which was holding me up ,when i spotted a suspicious van in a layby. Yep -only decent chance to get rid of "snail like tourist scenic gourmets, busses and slow moving trucks" was a camera van looking like a scorpion to sting engaged. Plenty of mention of where they can lurk, and IMHO on the section north of Fort William there's little likelihood of trade as from my knowledge of the road 50 is pushing it. What is needed on the A82 north is a CCTV system linked to a set of Interceptors to pull the scenic gourmets and speed obedience cars off for at least a chat. And possibly an eyesight check as the signs to pull over and let faster vehicles past are not small . 
Typical! Just when I'm about to get a car that'll help me overtake safely they go and do what I dreaded, oh well think I'll just take the a939 then the A93 when I'm going south, more fun than being stuck behind lorries.
On another note, who reckons they'll just keep the cameras after the dualling just so as to make sure it's extra safe (Cash effective).
