considering their growing popularity in America and the fact that they are now the most popular choice in Norway:

I would have said that these "novelties" are going to become a more prevalent sight in the coming years
Personally i'm looking forward to seeing what the manufacturers can come up with. Even the best Supercars have electric motors nowadays

Has anyone had a shot of the EVs in the SSE showroom on Waterloo st? I keep thinking about popping in to see what the score is. There was a Tesla when it first opened, haven't seen it in a while though.
There's a Zoe, an Ampera, an e-Bini, i think there's a Leaf, a Prius and... i'm sure i've seen other stuff, a van too once i think. Not all the cars are always present so i guess they shuffle them around with another showroom somewhere.

I did it a couple of years ago, got a good wee test drive in their iMiev, mix of Expressway & normal roads with a fair few stops & starts. Shows off the EV pretty well. I think some of the cars (including the Tesla IIRC) were privately owned, SSE used to do (probably still do) free indoor parking/charging for EV owners, apparently the Tesla was used by someone as his daily hack & they charged it for him if he was working in the city centre.
SSE used to park a few of their own battery powered vans (Kangoos?) in there too.
Anyway, if you want a drive, try here - you can also try their battery powered bikes if you want. http://www.scottish-hydro-centre.co.uk/electric-ve...
It's rediculous the amount of Tesla's I spotted in Norway last week. They cost about £80k, which when you consider a friend of mine paid that for a 2.0 TDi Audi Q5, is a bit of a bargain. The other thing is the charging stations are provided by Tesla and are free to use. Another friend of mine just bought one. He said it costs about 80p to fully charge it at home.
