Routes for Supercars

Hi all

I am up in Scotland in a few weeks with a group of Supercars. We've planned various routes but wanted to ask if anyone on here would mind advising whether the route from Spean Bridge through to Applecross is suitable or a no go for Supercars? The roads look quite narrow but with plenty of places for vehicles to pass by, and I presume they aren't usually that busy?

Last few turns at the top of the Bealach will take a bit out of a low front splitter but you could use the coast road into Applecross rather than the pass - its a cracker and is less used by tourists in motorhomes.
Other than that should all be fine.

I've seen a GT40 go up 'Pass of the Cattle' to Applecross so shouldn't be a problem. The road is narrow in places so probably worth a car going ahead to look out for larger vehicles and guide folk accordingly. I was there on Wednesday and all seemed well, no major road works or ramps, pot holes etc. It was busy though and came apon a few white vans travelling at stupid speeds for road. Views are stunning so everyone should have a great time. :-)

It's is tight in sections but just need to pay attention. Front nose will take a bit of beating but it's worth it, 1 for the view from the top and 2 the food at applecross inn

Some stretches of the A836 are not too bad.
Stay overnight in Tongue (the wife's from there) then take a blast over the A838, very open, couple of flat corners and very fast straights.

Majority of A836 is good and even a few bits to stretch the legs of the fastest cars, allegedly.....

Frankly its a waste of time for a genuine supercar IMHO. A small sports car with low gearing and plenty ground clearance great. However, a mixture of traffic and narrow tarmac it will just be painful.

Plenty other good roads to enjoy. My favourites would be 'The road to the isles' Fort William to Mallaig, Invergarry to Dornie and then onto Lochcarron and Garve.

Thanks for the feedback, not sure what to do, the road is so scenic that it would be a shame not to go down there... Will be more of a gentle cruise enjoying the scenery, we have other routes planned where we can open the cars up a bit more.. hmmmm

As people know, I live on said Applecross road, and would just like to chip in.

The only car that really had trouble on the Bealach was a Pagani. As long as a wide line is taken, anything can get up to the top. The trick is to do the loop anti clockwise, NOT clockwise, this presents only one very tight uphill corner. I took the 'slightly' narrow line in my R8 often, and never had a problem. Caterham R500 was never a problem with any line over the hill. But also, as stated above, it's piss slow, and the roads around Achnasheen are much, much more supercar friendly.

As I ALWAYS say, just do it at the right time and it will be empty (nobody seems to listen as you all want 'full Scottish breakfasts!). At this time of year it is light at 4 a.m. and the roads don't get busy until 10.30 a.m. If you want a drive, that's the time to do it. After 10.30 you will be in traffic.

Still lovely mind, but it's just a sightseeing tour, not a 'Drive'
