Whiskey Collectors?

Hi All,

Just wondering if there are any collectors that collect whiskey?

I seem to be getting very much into it now and have just purchased my first bottle. Hopefully, with many to follow.

I have a bottle of Rosebank whisky that I've been told is valuable but I wouldn't call myself a collector.

I've been collecting for about 3 years now and really enjoy it. Mainly buy distillery only bottles but have some from auctions as well. Best buy so far was an Ardbeg Lord of the Isles, though will be cracking it open at some point!

And posting on Scotland site? Whisky is made in Scotland. Whiskey elsewhere. I'm wondering if the OP knows the difference.

I have two whisky collections: one that is open and being drunk and one from a particular distillery which I am hoping will appreciate (and, if not, will merge with collection #1)

My mother still has an unopened bottle of Macallans brought out to celebrate the wedding of Charles and Diana, worth well in to 4 figures now.

Bought and sold whisky on and off for a few years now as I'm "in the trade..."

Limited edition Macallan and Ardbeg are good sound long term investments currently

To be slightly pedantic, both spellings were used for Scottish whisk(e)y in the past. It was effectively a 19th century marketing decision to 'brand' Scottish whisky without the 'e'.

To me, whisky is to be drunk. It's like buying a car then not driving it.

Buy it, enjoy it. Enjoy the memories that you form (sometimes hazily) when you drink it. That's what it's for.

She has been the only owner so has been able to watch the price grow, I doubt she would sell it though after holding on to it since the early eighties
