Drinks near Edinburgh castle ??

We have stayed at the Witchery many times, and now live in Edinburgh.
1.Once you get in your room you probably wont fancy going out, they are so super cool.
2.Witchery food is good , but overrated.
3.I would recommend the Scotsman for drinks down by North Bridge , Nick the barman is a real star.
Where you thinking of eating ? If staying at the Witchery , they give you a very good seat at the Tower Restaurant , as it has the same owners.Better food, but not as atmospheric as the Witchery.
If you like steak , head to Kyloe at the bottom of Princes Street , awsome steak. Italain go for Gusto's on George street , always very good.
Proper Posh nosh go for Castle Terrace, but needs mega advance booking.
Above all else book in advance, on a weekend you wont get in for dinner without a booking in any of the main areas.

Andy, I've been a bit lazy and just booked a table at the W. I read some of he mediocre reviews afterwards and thought about cancelling but I'm pretty sure it's too late to get anywhere else decent now. Pretty sure it won't be he worst dining experience ever, so happy with that. Will check out the Scotsman, just looking for somewhere nice for a few pre dinner cocktails and then probay head back to the suite with a bottle.

It's certainly a very special experience, and in my opinion worth the outlay.
I'd recommend the Old Rectory Suite, as it looks onto the Royal Mile and is simply stunning.
Two Nights are better than one, as you get the full day in the middle , rather than the usual check out at 10 and in by 3.
Jack Nicholson and Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones (on honeymoon !) have both stayed in this room, which adds to the drama.
Its difficult not to come through the "secret" bathroom door to the lounge area without saying "heres Johnny"
Try it , you wont be disappointed !

The Scotsman bar? Its a dump with sticky carpets and the terrible screeching of Dave the resident Noise maker of what passes for music,
There are LOADS of great pubs around there, And yes the Witchery food is overrated though the room I stayed in was very nice.
