What kind of car is it for?
I "think" Defendall only hold patterns for certain cars.
When they get an order, they just push the button and the individual shapes for the panels are cut by some magic machine somewhere.
Apologies if you already know that. I just wanted to check you weren't imagining a bloke turning up with a big roll of sticky backed plastic and getting started.
For instance, the pre-designed kits will include elements of the exact right shape and size for the leading face of the wing mirrors.

not that you've asked for it but heres my opinion,
I've had a few cars with paint film and although the majority of chips don't show, you will still end up with chips above the film line or on splitter edges, the front will loose its shine if your car is an interesting colour and it will still end up not looking the way you had hoped, when it starts to look tatty in 2/3 years, you'll end up getting a front end re-spray anyway. Save the film money for beers and don't tail gate.

It's for a Porsche 911 (991).
I understand some people prefer to save the coin for a front end respray but I really hate stone chips, every time I see one a part of me dies
I've got a front end film protection on my current car (bought the car with it fitted) and think the sacrifice of the odd film line is better than the increasing number of stone chips.
Would ideally use paint shield in Peterborough but it's such a drive.

That's what's on my red Exige I believe.
As far as I'm concerned, it does what it says on the tin.
Where it's applied, it protects against damage from small pieces of flying debris. It doesn't work for rocks or parking scrapes.
I can't see how any other product might be markedly better or worse.
