Suggestions for eating out in Edinburgh
Discussion
Khushis is a good shout, ate there a few years back when they were in the street out of the Grassmarket. (Come to think about it I take it they never re-opened there after the fire?) Unfortunately they are bit too far out of centre for us on this occassion. Ideally I'm looking for somewhere Old Town / Grassmarket
TexMex on Thistle Street sounds like it might be what you're after. Tiny restaurant, big portions of all sorts of fried cheesey (aka Mexican) stuff. Had an epic meal there a previous Christmas.
Give them a call to check they still exist as when I googled them it came up with a couple of reviews last July with a mysterious closure, but there's reviews again later in the year.

I ate there on Wednesday. A fantastic venue with great views. The food was okay, the wine cheaper than I expected. The bill for 12 of us that I picked up was robust enough though
My favorite place to eat (that I have found) in Edinburgh is The Dogs http://www.thedogsonline.co.uk/
Great service (when you understand to respect the mad guy running it), an informal atmosphere, but seriously good home cooking.
