Good morning, good afternoon and good evening and thanks in advance.

I am competing in a road rally later this month and the car will have race numbers attached directly to the paintwork. The car in question is a 1991 Porsche 964.

The car is not mine so the main focus is eliminating or minimizing any damage to the paintwork, does anyone have any advice regarding preparing the paint surface or the best process for removing it.

Best regards

Wax, Wax and More wax

Make sure the door/bonnet is very clean then add a few layers of wax, before the stickers.
Take them off as soon as you are finished, then more wax to remove and glue.
Any stubborn parts then use WD40 to remove them.

Good afternoon

Thanks for the reply. I take it is about quantity as opposed to quality? Lots of layers to build up a barrier on the paint.

yes, also makes it "slippy" so the stickers peel off easier.

When removing them, gently heat them with a hairdryer and they will come off easier.

It might be worth your while to buy a couple of magnetic roundels and then putting the stickers onto them instead of directly onto the paintwork.
