IMO blythswood square didnt have the space for the crowds, glasgow green on a sunday was awesome with acres of space for spectators. the abbey in paisley looked great under the floodlights and there was just about enough space. i didnt marshal clydebank so cant comment

I agree BS did have big issues with crowds .I went with a group and had VIP entry to the old RAC club now the hotel and we had a view looking down on the start .I went down and blagged myself a spot next to the off ramp awesome ! I am off a certain age where I went to the 1962/3 start from BS all those years ago

Don't suppose you have any photos from back then? It would be great to see a comparison to today.

Didn't have cameras back then......sorry don't have any from back in those days it was Saab who ruled . I will try and find some of early cars that we followed in the rally days in the late 70's

Well, the Abbey will look even better this year,we're going to have some nice "improvements "to the lighting effects and the start ramp will be about 20' forward so it's at the end of the bridge and more visible for the crowds. We're displaying Douglas Anderson's Mg Midget course car and a Beetle in Braehead shopping centre on Saturday 24th and for the Sunday the Mg is replaced by the Rover 2000 being driven in the Rallye by Ranald White and Karsten Brown. If you're about please come and say hello.
