Why?

An article on the BBC Scotland website, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-ea... , reports on a car crash patient being cut from his car, and taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

I ask why, because if the crash happened on Telford Road, it is within spitting distance of the Western General, so why go almost 5.5 miles by road to the ERI? Not only that, but actually drive past the Western General on the way? Surely the Western General has an A&E department?

Yep it's the future. Fewer A&E departments further apart.
