7yr old Bengal needs a home

Hi guys,

I'm desperately seeking a new home for our 7 year old female Bengal. So I thought I'd ask if anyone is looking for a cat.

We are looking to move home to New Zealand and have just found out that we can't ship her (she would have to stay in the UK for 6 months for a Rabies vaccination, which isn't fair on her). We are devistated.

She's a beautiful silver female who just loves people. She's sort of like a puppy dog and often follows us around the house, she's never far away.

She can be trained to be either outdoor or indoor litter trained. Great with kids (although out 2 year old terrorises her a bit).

If anyone is looking for a cat or knows someone who is then let me know. We are quite upset to have to let her go as she's part of the family and full of character; so we want to find her a really loving home to go to.

6 months with a temparory family (or worse, a cattery) followed by 2 days flying, followed by 10 days quaratine... and we have no idea where we'll be living when we get there. That level of torture is far worse on her than finding a new home for her. If we kept her it would be just for our own selfish reasons.

Have you spoken to the Cats Protection League in your area? They may well know of people who are looking for particular breeds of cat and have already been home-checked.

She looks like a cracker. Wish I could help but been working on my Mrs for a year about getting a cat.

So it's 6 months staying with strangers, then 10 days quarantine, which is unacceptable. Or its leave her with strangers forever which is apparently fine, and after 6 months living in a new country you still won't know where you're living.

I'm sure you can understand my skepticism that this is not act of compassion but rather than an excuse to get rid of a pet you can no longer be bothered with. But it looks a lovely animal, I'm sure you won't struggle to do so, and in either instance it is perhaps for the best.

Where you from? I have a seven year old male Bengal and dog who get on great together. We could make room for another if they get on. We have five Bengal cats in our estate and live near Glasgow.

Thanks for the interest everyone. We've had a few enquiries from people (I never imagined there would be so much interest for her) so feeling much happier we will find her a loving family.

One of the guys who works for me is interested in taking her but is going to come over to see her sometime this week so it'll depend on how that goes.

Best of luck. I'm not a cat fancier , but many years ago we went abroad and had to find a home for our rescue GS cross, so I know how traumatic this period is.

Everyone else: We took ownership of a 7yr old female silver bengal in January and haven't looked back! As Pernod says, she is very much like a puppy, and will follow us about the place. Very vocal too; she's got something to say about everything

So, for anyone thinking about it, all I can say is go for it
