Do a search on the S series forum, I asked this within the last 12 months... ended up going for ACT sourced stainless...

Yes, thanks Podie , i can't stretch to Stainless at moment i think .....ACT quote 299 + VAT for M/S manifolds , RT quoted 169 + VAT per side .

Question for TIM (2 sheds) or anyone who has been supplied manifolds.......Does the manifold set reach to the centre section where two pipes become one or does the manifold set end at the short & long leg disconnects either side of the bell housing?

The manifolds end at the bellhousing, as you say short and long legs. After that the pipes are part of the centre box.

I will be going for stainless from Tim ....eventually!

Andy ....thanks for that mate....i seem to have an odd fit.....as you look at the centre section silencer going forwards before it splits into the 'Y' theres is a join clamp ????? This must be odd as Tas confirms as you do ,that the centre section directly comes out into the 'Y' as an assembly with no joins.

p.s. the car as sold was quoted as having 'A 450 system fitted'.......anyone with a 450 have a look under thier motor for me?
cheers,
Paul

In 1990 the factory started to supply the same (latest design) of manifold to all V8 wedges. I have a (1995 I think, there is a small plate with the year stamped on attached by the factory) 450 manifold in my 350i...it's also a 350i, 350SE, 350SX, 390SE, 400SE, 420SEAC, 420SE, 430SE, 450SEAC, and 450SE manifold if you like.

Yeah methinks the same, however a straight replacement with a new 400 system centre section & manifolds will sort the puppy out ....whadya reckon chaps?

Sounds good. I fitted a JP (now also supplied by ACT) SS exhaust in 1992 and its still going strong. SS sounds a bit harsher and raspier tham MS but not having to worry about rust is

I have got a set of ACT mainfolds (still to be put on, next on my list) and they are excellent quality , real good meaty bits of kit.

I think that if you were intending to keep the car and due to the effort and probable issues you may encounter getting the things on (it is a TVR!) you might as well go for stainless. IMHO.
