Gearbox oil level
Discussion
Chocolate spanners?
13mm? I thought the level plug was bigger than that. Mind it is a while since I did mine... I find that you can lie alongside the car, get your tool on the plug and whip it out. Then a long length of clear pipe on a bottle of tranny oil till it dribbles down the box, and fanny is undoubtedly a female relative.
The diff, however, is a different kettle of worms...

Sadly I just tried with a socket and no luck - it's a 13mm square nut and a 16mm socket fits .. but no luck
it slipped so - I'm quitting before I do any real damage.
I'll either have to find a local garage or find a local specialist .. they probably have a tool that is just the job.
Shame the last person did not put a bit of copper ease on it on re-assembly.
This type of little problem really makes you yearn for something newer .. (Noble M12 GTC ..arrhh) - just one bolt simple job !

Big adjustable?
Yes, big adjustable and a tap of a big hammer. Level the car up on axle stands and use an easy blead system ( via the tyre pressure) to slowly top the oil up. The same with the rear diff but I seem to remember you need to drop the exhaust.
If you've never replaced the oil it's wrth draining as there is a magnet on the drain plug which collects all the nasty bits. I seem to remember it's as much effort to jack the car correctly as do the job. A proper bank holiday weekender.
