Couldn't make any meets this weekend due to insurance company suspending cover because of brake and suspension overhaul. The idiots do not understand that prior to having this work done the car had no back brakes or suspension as it was totally siezed up, and the works were to improve braking and ride.
Should hopefully resolve today.
Rev-erend,I will make it one day, Im not an illusion of my own imagination honest.
Cannot name insurers as I don't want to wind them up any more. NU.

If they cannot understand you are keeping the car roadworthy, get a refund and go to new ins co..

What prompted you to tell them anyway - are you just overhauling or making modifications?

Just overhauling / updating, I was in two minds about telling them, but if I have a crash and they see nice shiney bits, well we all know what there like, any excuse.

I still can't understand this one. Suspension: springs were so variable that to nominate a standard rate is to misunderstand TVRs, dampers were originally Koni but are no longer available so you fit AVO or Nitron or Redline - no problem there. Brakes were vented at the front and not bad so refurb - no problem there.

Why did you mention it to the insurance company? Were you fitting bigger wheels to house bigger dia brakes along with a fancy disc and caliper? Please end the suspense.

Jonathan.
Nice to know your as confused as me, I told them as for the reasons above, what made them question it was a performance upgrade was the cost of the front discs. Austec found on starting the work the disc's were 270mm, I had just had the wheels overhauled at a cost of over £650.00 and did not want to replace them to fit larger disc,s. The orginal disc,s are no longer available from AP. We managed to trace the foundry that orginally cast them and they had 2 raw sets, these had to be machined and grooved cost £175.00 each disc. Shocks are AVO, new springs, bushes all round, braided hoses, green stuff pads and complete caliper strip and overhaul, looks good.
Talking to my broker yesterday it appears it was some little arse wipe who questioned it, they have now asked one of there engineers who has stated the works done are an improvement and not a modification, so all ok.
Brakes & road holding are now awesome

me too, £223 for 3000 miles plus £15 to have agreed value.

When I need another 2000 miles it's a phone call and another 60 odd squid.

It's sort of pay as you go car insurance

Anybody have 'business use'?

I pay £430 with business use, unlimited mileage, garaged, immobiliser, and no track days, for a geriatric 57 year old.
