confused on optimax, need some help please

I have an 85 280, can i use optimax....???? i have had the car 2 years and been running on LRP untill about a month ago when i joined PH. i read and did detailed research on PH archives and it seemed that if my intake manifold had a E or a D stamped onto it everything would be good, so i swapped to optimax and noticed an imediate improvment in power but in traffic a little jerky. i ven tried BP ultimate and found that also v good and smoother. but it could be a coincidence but it seemed that in the higher gears at high revs in pulled back a little. i have changed the fuel filter but to no availe, the fuel pump is also quite new... i am beggining to think that maybe i should go back to LRP but i dont want to. My local capri specialist had a look at the intake manifold and it was stamped with EN, but he thought they all had that..also the idle seems a bit lower than usual how do i udjust and will getting the timing reset sort out the fuel promblem... Please fellas i need your help as i dont want my engine damaged b4 BBWF...,
