: Just phoned Austec, around 280bhp & 292 lbs torque, Mark is pleased with it and says its a large improvement on what it was. How does that compare to other 450SE, anyone know.
before my original std engine fell apart it was 265 (I think) on Power Engineering's rolling road. Mark thought that was good (as did John Eales) so yours sounds very good!
Since my 'minor' mods were done though it is now 315bhp and 330 lbft.
Oh, don't forget that of course they all left the factory with 321bhp

Come on then .. spill the beans .. how much bhp/torque.
Email me if need be !
Don't know yet Austech haven't phoned to say Marks finished. But will let you know.:
i know what it was but Mark was trying to get a bit more, your up with the 5l griff boys
Steve. You've confused me, (not hard), did you talk to Mark about mine today or do you mean the Rev-rend's and he's being coy about his bhp
: I will let you know how it drives on Saturday, yours next Friday isn't it.redcar said:

I was talking to Mark about my car,but your car came into the conversation

Guys - I don't mean to be coy about my bhp / torque.
It's very similar to yours Martin.
Mine is : 270 bhp / 296 ft/lbs torque.
I was a little disappointed that the bhp was not a little more but Mark said the important figure was the torque..
From talking with Mark - it would seem that we are very close to the limit of the std plenum, so Steve could expect a bit more.
They say a 5 ltr puts out about the same bhp/torque that we have and I have found that to be true.
Must say - I'm more that happy with the way it drives and goes - I did a side by side run against Steve T with his 5ltr Chimaera and they are very close on the road with my car just pulling ahead at the top end of the rev range but it mostly depended on who pressed the go button the fastest .. they were that close.

Just picked car up from Austec, figures are
278.2 BHP @ flywheel.
220.3 BHP @ wheels.
292.1 lb ft torque.
They changed airflow meter to 4.6 ltr one, moved position and moved filter to cleaned air, Tornado chip, and rolling road tune.
They asked me to test drive it first before paying, drove round block and it was
scarey, the acceleration, so much improvement. Paid bill got onto M25 and the performance, drive and power are fantastic.
As rev-erend said its not BHP its the torque.
Interestingly they think mine might have Tuscan race engine heads on and engine could acheive 300bhp with cam change, but enough spent, Im happy and am going for a
which is what we all buy are BBW for.

not very happy,i'm away with work,my father was going to take it to Mark next Friday, but he won't do a 600 mile round trip in the car
A friend of mine had his race car booked in at a rolling road near me,he has kindly given it up to allow my car to be set up.
Mark wouldn't have the time to make up an ECU for me so it would not be up to its full potential,so i have let Mark know i can't make it and it will have to wait a while to be fully set up.
The main thing is it will be running well,i don't want to let Tim down for Piston Fest.
I need a new job,the one i have is taking up too much of my Wedge time

Good news , bad news
The good news is that the car is putting out just over 300 BHP at the flywheel.
The bad news is that the distributor is wrong for the cam, this needs to be sent a way to be sorted.
Due to this the bloke took it very easy with the engine,so there is a bit more to come
Didn't ask what the torque was, but will find out when it goes back to be fully set up.
The car still has the standard ECU and airflow meter,he could make a new one up and would get another 20 BHP min,so i think that is a winter project
