Hi all
New to this forum (usually in the Cerb area) but picked up a white '86 350i yesterday as a sort of project. It needs a new head gasket (water pi55ing all over the floor) and the brakes are interesting, but all of this is being looked into by a mechanic friend. My question is, the car has a red interior and the woodwork has either cracked, faded or in the case of the door strips and handles, rusted and the finish popped off, so what has anyone doen to their interior to rectify or improve this stuff. Feel free to email photos to me off line to save clogging this thread up if you want. I have read the re-veneering thread which looks superb, but would be interested to know what else anyone has done.

Oh & TVR-NUT, hi Mark, Jerry here from TVRCC Suffolk, decided to join your the wedge crew as well so we are now a 2 TVR family (the car is technically Suffolkfoxy's birthday pressie as she announced there was no way she was going to convoy in a Punto again).
[Just realised logged in on wifes computer and so wrong ID again, s0d & bu66er, choice sex change or swap machines??]

Hi Teresa. Glad to hear that you and Jerry have now entered the wedge gang as well. Look forward to seeing any pictures that you may have of her. Must have a chat about your new purchase at the next Mid-Essex meet

Mark

PS: Jerry - I think that the sex-change would be the best option...

Re the wood : you can do it your self

see this thread and associated web page :

or look in the list of advertisers on PH
Malcolm of London Carriage craft

I paid £180 for the main wood panel in the SEAC to be done - as a rough guide on price.

Good luck.

Hi Mark

I am really hoping to bring the wedge down to Essex next month - as long as it is safe and legal!!
Had her checked over today - and will know the damage to my pocket tomorrow - so keep your fingers crossed for me! Will be good to compare them - so looking forward to getting out and about through the summer. Very exciting time for me - so see you there hopefully

Hi Teresa

When you say that you are hoping to bring the wedge to the Mid-Essex meet next month, do you actually mean July, or do you mean August?

Hope that the damage to the wallet isn't too much - my fingers are crossed for you!

Look forward to both seeing it when it is ready and comparing our wedge's together...!

Hi Mark

Hopefully the July meeting - just have to wait and see! Are you going to PistonFest - we are - but I have to take the Punto this time!

Hello again T.

It would be really good if the wedge could make the July meeting. However if it doesn't make it I will understand.

I'm hoping to be able to make/attend pistonfest on Sunday in the wedge, but it depends on the weather. If I can make it, I will try and remember to bring the owners manual with me as well.
