My car needs new bushes at the chassis end of the front tie rod.Is it possible to replace these by removing all bolts and the drop link or does the anti roll bar need to come off too?Any tips would be appreciated before i buy the bushes because if anti roll bar comes off then i will replace those ones as well
Should i fit poly bushes? or cortina mk 5 rubber?

Yes you can replace tie rod bushes without removing roll bar. Refitting the drop link is fiddly but possible
(need to play with wishbone heights)
I have used superflex bushes but Ford OK.
Whilst you have it disconnected why not finish the job and replace drop link and roll bar bushes.

Yes you are probably right in saying replace the lot although the others look fine, but I can just envisage loads of problems getting them all changed! Anyone got an idea of how long people have been taking to do this job?

I replaced the lot with superflex bushes. The front 'dough nut' tie bar bushes were completely shot to pieces. They literally felt to bits in my hands!.

You do not have to remove the anti roll bar just move it slightly out of the way whilst you are fitting the drop link bushes. I would however replace these at the same time depending how bad yours are. Also check to see if the bush bracket is still secured in the slot as sometimes these break or pop out.

I have noticed however that ride is noticebly more tighter and harder (I did change the springs as well) since doing the job and the steering actually now turns the car instead of wallowing about a little and then turning!

Another thing you may want to do is to get the geometry re-set at a 4 wheel alignment place after doing the job. Mine was all over the place and was causing all sorts of trouble with rubbing tyres on the wheel arches etc.

Had the geometry sorted and the issues have gone away.

Good luck. Also watch out for rusted split pins, you will probably have to replace these, get in a supply ready. I had to drill a couple out as these were siezed in place.
