Good news, bad news!

Well after a few months off the road while I replaced the swan neck, hoses thermostat and a few other bits and pieces, the car starts first time, no leaks, stat opens and sits lovely at just under 90 degrees, so off for a drive I go. Decide to get on the M5 to stretch its legs for a while , eventually off onto the slip road...no brakes
4 pumps of the pedal (and you though Ronaldo had quick feet)and I managed to get some pressure back to stop in time!
Nursed the car home only to find smoke coming from the rear. Looks like a rear caliper has been binding and caused the failure! The thing is after leaving the car standing for a while I can still move it backwards and forwards with one hand. Is it possible that the piston in the caliper has moved back once cool or would a small amount of binding have such a total failure effect? Need to get this sorted pretty quick and I dont have the time between now and BBWF so against all my better judement it looks like its off to a garage.
Any advice apprecitated before parting with the hard earned.
Cheers

Well I have some brakes again
I still can't figure out why TVR specialists and dealers charge so much. I was quoted £99 + vat each for calipers and minimum £245 + vat to fit from a specialist. Got the calipers from a Jaguar specialist for £59 each + vat fitted by my local garage who mot the car for £200 including the vat.
Annoyingly this now brings the total labour costs on the car to £310 in 6 years!
see you at BBWF
