Well I actually got the engine in and fired up by Sunday night. Even started on first turn of key

Forgot how many bits needed attaching.

A bit lout as no manifolds on car yet

Minor issue with a water leak from my modified water pump, hopefully just a bad hose connection, either that or I've got to replace the timing cover for the old one

Couldn't check oil pressure as still waiting for adaptor and gearbox mounts from Rover so only ran for a couple of seconds but sounded awsome and a bit like a

Other things to check when changing engine

Make sure the clutch plate is the correct one and fits the splines before trying with engine on !!

Still loads to do, like put propshaft, mount gear box, gear lever, change ecu, and clean the oil marks of everything but at least it keeps me busy.

Nearly sold the black 350 friday, just waiting for the guy to call back

Needed more wedges at the Polo as only about 4 including a lovely gold 430 that made me want to go home and finish my car instead of lay in the sun all afternoon !!!

Sorry I missed you at the polo. Mine was the black 350i. I agree - we could have done with a few more Wedges.

Yes that's me. I didn't see another black one when I arrived (12:30) and toured the others. Did you arrive late? I spent a while talking to the guy with the silver 350 - very smart. We were discussing cooling systems, as mine was having difficulty on the drive down in the high ambients, and I had to keep the speed dowm. I'm wondering whether to fit twin fans. It seems an unnecessary expense if it only happens once every two years, but it does show how marginal it is.

I arrived early at about 11.15 and then left to go and buy a gazeebo to keep the dog and us cool, so got back about 12.30

Don't remember a silver one there ? Saw a gold one from Berks, 430 and two black 350's

Must have been the sun making me blind

It was a guy from Berkshire I was talking to. I thought it was silver(ish). There was a also a white one and another silver(ish) one. Were you blinded by the sun or was I seeing double?
