OK

You knew it had to happen some time .. just an initial post with some idea's...

We know that it will happen - as the interest this year was fantastic and it was definately the best event that I went to this year too.

As it was such a success - I think we should keep the format very similar. Why change a winning formula !

Venue : Ettington chase
I called them and they are happy to have us back !

All weekends in July and August are available but they do have weddings booked all thru July & Aug (they book years in advance) - so like this year everyone would book their own room. Rate will be similar to this year We just need to choose a date to avoid other big events like PistonFest. Post if you know of a major date to avoid !

Event Price : Free

Saturday Schedule
A rough plan of idea's :
10:00 ~ 12:00 People arrive

13:00 ~ 14:20 Show off cars by model group & concours
Owners of models to stand with cars and chat about car / history / mods etc ..
break down :
13:00 ~ 13:20 : 200 / 280
13:20 ~ 13:40 : 350i / FHC / 390
13:40 ~ 14:00 : 400 / 450
14:00 ~ 14:20 : SEAC's
(have I missed any..)
Owners to vote on best of each model - for photo shoot !

15:00 ~ 15:45 : Drive out - could do the same route as this year but with someone leading who can follow a simple route map (aim's gun at own foot and shoots..)
- we could get this videoed from a few vantage points, especially the roundabout that was such a sceen of chaos !

16:00 ~ 17:00 : Photo shoot
Not SEAC's this year .. they have had their turn .. perhaps an oldest to newest shoot .. another could be one of each wedge.. perhaps our concours winners.. idea's. We could prearrange with Hotel to take some in front of hotel .. perhaps use grassy banks.. borrow a set of ladders for aeriel shots.

19:00 BBQ
This was really popular .. let's do the same again .. cost about £10

Other idea's :
Polo Shirt - definately but not yellow
Cheap T Shirt : possibility

Raffle : with a difference - we just split the money
(and you can pay for servicing / improvements etc..)
say 60%, 25 %, 15% - perhaps we could also blag a few other prizes. No charity stuff .. no profit .. just real winners

Tall set of steps for the photo shoot or perhaps a location that an upstairs room has a suitable view?

There was some talk last time of a parts swap / sale. Wedges only, of course! Could be useful, depending on the need.

Don't forget the clown - the last one who joined two cars together was a scream !

The only thing that I would really like to change next year would be that my car actually managed to get there without any hassle!.... I'm a bit fed up of driving to events, only for my car to breakdown halfway before I get there. Then having to get trucked home and drive all the way back again in the Escort....

On a lighter note however - If all goes well I may even have my pride and joy back at the end of next week....

I don't think that we really need to changed anything though Alan. I will try and post any more thoughts when I have them.

Is it too early to start composing articles now and sending them in to Sprint or should we perhaps wait until after the event again like last time?

Oh no!

Not already? But of course.

I'll chip in with a few ideas in due course - resurrect some of last years's unused thoughts too, perhaps

I am up for it.......in my newly acquired 450SE (when I get it back up together again!).

I also know that Marshall Moore the US TVRCC president and true wedge enthusiast was gonna try and make it over for the event next year as well.

Good news is someone coming round Monday to tune my car for me properley with special machines etc instead of my Halfrauds special equip

Rev, I can see that you've put a lot of thought into this and generally it sounds very good however: yes, you've missed a few models Tasmin, Tasmin Turbo, I'm not so sure why you threw in FHC after 350i, in fact how about Tasmin, Tasmin Turbo, DHC:- 200i, 280i, Tasmin280, Tasmin 350, 350i, 350SE, 390SE, 400SE, 420SE, 420SEAC, 430SE, 450SE, 450SEAC, FHC:- 200i, 280i, 350i, Tasmin280, Tasmin350, Specials. I don't think that the owners to stand with there cars to talk about them at a given time will work because owners generally want to talk to other owners of the same model. On the concours instead of following the car club's Mickey Mouse ideas why not have a proper Concours event: 20 marks each for chassis, body, engine bay, interior, and originality?

Right - booked the whole of July and August off so I can be sure to attend - Rev - format looks good, if we can get an idea of numbers well in advance then perhaps the Hotel would be willing to let us have a bit more parking blocked off to assist in model organisation - easier in theory than practise I know.. Willing to assist in organising.. Oh.. can't wait..

Excellent news!

I think the venue is ideal.

Just a thought:

Maybe the best way to organise parking will be to let people park anywhere *except* the wedge section on arrival, then put each class into the wedge section as they come off the show arena down at the end.

That way we could get all the wedges ordered by age/model without me having to run around doing helicopter impressions.

Thought you did a great job along with the others Roger, at least we couldn't miss you flapping on arrival.. it's a wonder we couldn't get you to do an aerial shot of the cars

Weeeel -

Just don't like the idea of a Concourse d'Elegance rev - I thought we used our Wedges not fluffed them up wiv a duster!

Can we consider other venues? - but if Ettington Chase turns out to be best - OK
