Help! I need alloy tank repair
Discussion
My 280+2 has a single alloy fuel tank INSIDE the car and the darling thing needs quite a lot doing to it. There is a leak, some splits, and I need to relocate ALL the hose connections to sensible places. Does anyone know anyone? Perhaps alloy is a bad choice for a fuel tank - can anyone suggest a better material ? I know modern cars now use HDPE, but I guess for a one off mild steel will do just fine.
I saw a threead that suggested the white elephant had a similar fuel tank too, and someone was making one up - maybe they could make another?- I can supply engineering drawings if that helps any. Bored with fuel smell in the car now, and one of the crazy pipe outlets put a kink in the fuel return line when the interior trim was fitted - took me AGES to figure out why the car was running so rough. The fuel pressure was so high it was pegging my 7 Bar gauge!
