gents
can anyone advise, both lights come up ok. but one side is dim even at high beam. I have no idea when it comes to electrical problems. any one come accross this before.
now its getting dark at night i need them both.
From a diferent thread adam quantrill said:One thing I did fix - and you can easily try - is to cure a 1+ volt drop at the bulbs. Initially they were only getting 10.2 volts with battery=12.0v. I cleaned up the fuse contacts, the 2 relays contacts, and the multiplugs behind the pods (the worst culprits!) Result was I gained a volt to get 11.3V, only a .7V drop, not bad with all the connections in the way. Light output much improved!!! |
Hope this helps

as alre4ady said, check the connectors behind the pods. Check both sides becasue the supply for one side is taken from the back of the connector on the other. Also, to state the obvious, have you checked that the bulb is ok?

If you have a black wiring early 280i, then there is a massive connector bundle in the Nearside pod that feeds the Offside pod, It sounds like this needs attention. It does get a lot of water and road dirt.

its one of the last 280s to be produced
Missing ground is quite likely the prob.
If ground is missing the 12v will travel a long long way through other components till it eventualy finds a ground. The 12v will be shared amongst these components in series hence a dim glow.
Thanks gents for all your help
It was an easy one, Loose earth at the terminal that joins the wiring loom.
