On further investigation it looks like the car shown in Sprint January '97 pg 18/19, which shows it for sale at Hexham Horseless Carriages. It also states it was a Haughins (dealer who converted from standard 350) demonstrator and featured in their colour brochure.
Al.
Ah, so does that make it a 350400SXE?
After all, we need to know that these cars actually exist and aren't a figment of our imagination...

The register of cars/owners with regs and colours etc was printed in a 90's Sprint, can't find it at the mo. I'm sure there were at least two with 400 bodies.
I think that you're getting mixed up with the two reported 400SX cars; all of the 350SXs have the smooth front AFAIK. Yes, they were all dealer conversions and rivalled the factory 390s. I think that the dealer topped himself in the end.
350SX
All the cars were dealer conversions undertaken by Haughins (who did commit suicide in the 90's). After this several cars appeared (and re-appeared again) being sold with delivery mileage.
Most were based on the 350 shell, though some had 400SE body shells, and there is a rumour of a 400SX (this was featured in Penthouse magazine). Performance was similar to a 390SE according to the magazines, though in reality that probably makes them a bit quicker than a standard 390SE as we all know that some of the 390 press cars had 4.2 engines in them, don't we!!!!
Alternative Cars another magazine also featured the SX several times as did Fast Lane and Autocar.
Jasper Gilder (on PH somewhere) probably knows the most about the history of the 350SX, having owned one for many years.
Hope that helps!

PS this will probably stir Fiefox into thinking that maybe his car was a press 390, but we won't go down that road in this thread, do it in your own thread JJ
